The secrets of Leicester Tigers

Firstaid4sport last night hosted an educational evening with Leicester Tigers’ sports medicine team at Newark Rugby Club. Local sports clubs were given the opportunity to meet and learn from leaders in the field of sports medicine who have treated some of the best players in the world.   The evening was open to all rugby clubs in the area completely free of charge as part of Firstaid4sport’s campaign to educate grass roots clubs in injury management and sports first aid.   There were talks from the Tigers’ Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, Ed Gannon, Head of Medicine and Rehabilitation, Julie Hayton and Community Rehabilitator, Steven Baker. They demonstrated methods involved in treating and rehabilitating sports injuries at the top level, and advised how the risk of injury can be reduced.   Michael Davison, Managing Director of Firstaid4sport said: “The evening was a huge success and we have to thank Newark Rugby Club, the Leicester Tigers and Mueller Sports Medicine for making it happen. We hope this is the start of something big, and we will be looking to set more dates in the future.” This is the start of a campaign to outline the importance of injury management and sports first aid, and to expose grass roots sports clubs to the world of elite injury management. We aim to show you that the basic principles of injury management applied to international superstars like Tom Croft and Manu Tuilagi, also apply to you and your team. The products are the same too - you use the same tape, the same braces and much of the same items in your sports first aid kits.   As a big “Thank You” to Newark Rugby Club for hosting the event, Firstaid4sport, Mueller Sports Medicine and the Leicester Tigers donated raffle prizes to raise money for the club. The main prizes included a signed Leicester Tigers shirt and tickets to see the Tigers v Barbarians.
