Proud to support the South Island Sevens
FirstAid4Sport proudly sponsored the medic team for the inaugural South Island Sevens on the Isle of White last weekend. This was rugby sevens at its finest, welcoming 800 players from as far afield as Fiji.
Featuring 16 elite men's and eight elite women's rugby sevens teams the event was a huge success as they all competed for the Schools Trophy in front of 2100 excited spectators. The South Island Sevens has been planned by Chris Fletcher as a way of encouraging the development of youth rugby on the Island. Chris said: “The South Island Sevens surpassed all expectations seeing 2,100 spectators arrive at the venue in brilliant sunshine and enjoy a day of elite level rugby. The 400 players were thrilled to find pitches of such a high quality following a year's preparation by head groundsman James Blake. I have so much to build on for 2023, the top sides have all agreed to come back to the Isle of Wight which is a huge boost.”
He continued to say, “It was fantastic to have our medical team led by Zoe Jones referred to as the best seen at a sevens in the UK. The team dealt with one life threatening injury, transferred to a hospital within 5 minutes, numerous dislocations and the usual attrition seen at this level. Thanks to our sponsor FirstAid4Sport, their comprehensive support of the team was a key element in its success.” As one of the UK’s leading sports first aid suppliers, we champion sporting events around the UK and look forward to sponsoring South Island Sevens again in 2023!
