Firstaid4sport Ambassador - Rebecca De Fillippo

Back in December we announced our support of Welsh International, Rebecca De Fillippo. We can o also announce Rebecca as our ………. Ambassador for 2018. When Rebecca made her debut against Scotland in the 2012, she was the youngest member of the Wales squad. As a centre, she moved her way up the senior ranks having already played for Wales at Under 20 Level. Rebecca played for Wales during the World Cup in 2014 before taking a short break. She returned to the team for the 2016/2017 Six Nations and is now part of the Welsh Team aiming for victory in this years Six Nations. Rebecca took some time out to answer some questions for us. FA4S: What age did you start playing Rugby? RF: I was 10 when I played for my first team, New Dock Stars in Llanelli FA4S: What do you love most about Rugby? RF: Just the pride of putting on a jersey, especially for Wales. It has opened up so many doors for me. FA4S: Training? RF: I play 7s and 15s so the basics are the same but when training for 7s we work more on our anaerobic threshold. FA4S: Your teams? RF: Gloucester & Hartbury and Wales. FA4S: Best place Rugby has taken you? RF: Definitely the Rugby World Cup in Paris in 2014! FA4S: Proudest sporting achievement? RF: Receiving my first international cap on my 18^th Birthday against England at Twickenham. FA4S: Who is your sporting hero? RF: As cliché as it sounds, its my Dad. He’s always been there through everything! If I had to choose a sporting one it would be Jonah Lomu, he had everything you need in Rugby and more. FA4S: The Future? RF: To be a professional athlete in the World 7’S Series, if women’s rugby turns professional. FA4S: Future of Women’s Rugby? RF: I would love Women’s Rugby to go professional, for younger girls to have the same opportunities as their male counter parts, but I think the only way this would happen is if the media was to drive Women’s rugby.
